There’s something quietly magical about photographing dogs in a place where nature takes center stage—where every winding path, dappled beam of sunlight, and blooming flower becomes part of the story.
Recently, I had the joy of photographing Nicole and her beautiful Australian Cattle Dog during one of the new Dog Day events at the Houston Botanic Garden. These are special, limited-time days when the gardens open their gates to dogs and their people—and it felt like stepping into a dream.

Nicole’s pup was radiant among the palms and wildflowers, completely at ease in a setting that felt peaceful and full of wonder. The light danced through the trees, the garden's textures added richness to every frame, and together we created something both joyful and enduring. Here are a few of my favorite moments from our time together:

Houston is fortunate to have a space like this—a living sanctuary that invites us to slow down, breathe deep, and connect. For dogs who thrive outdoors and for humans who want portraits with a little more soul, the Houston Botanic Garden offers an extraordinary backdrop that’s equal parts natural beauty and quiet magic.
These sessions are only available during the garden’s designated Dog Days, which happen a few times a year. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind photography experience that captures your dog’s personality in a serene, organic setting, now’s the time to start planning.
