A pristine oasis just 50 miles from Houston...
Brazos Bend State Park is one of my favorite locations not just for hiking but also for photo sessions! With miles and miles of trails, there's no shortage of cool spots to take a photo. Every season (ahem, Texas seasons a.k.a. - hot and not too hot) reveals a completely different landscape from autumnal colors to every shade of green in nature and spring wildflowers.

Tallgrass prairies and woodlands
The park is filled to the brim with a diverse population of birds, reptiles, amphibians and other wildlife. Over 300 species of birds have been documented there. You are almost always guaranteed to see some on any trail in the park which makes it one of my favorite places to hike.

It probably should be mentioned that pets should always be kept on a leash in this park in case you encounter any wildlife residents on the trails.
But the trees though...
But my absolute favorite feature of the park? - the TREES. Hundred-year-old oak trees draped in Spanish moss are everywhere. These immense giants lend an eerie and sometimes ethereal quality to the landscape. Catch them at just the right time at sunset and the whole tree lights up like a Christmas tree.
